hello!
my name is Rahat Saini.

I'm an actor, comedian, and storyteller based in Vancouver, BC. I spent my childhood years in Chandigarh, India, where I had the immense privilege of eating the best food on the planet.

Raised among the ultimate band of storytellers, I took every opportunity to be on stage: whether I was singing, dancing, or by the age of 10, acting. Moving to Canada at 13, feeling like an outsider was inevitable — but I found belonging and community in the theatre (a classic!). Having long been bitten by the bug, I went on to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Victoria  ('20).

Since moving back home to Surrey, I’ve been fortunate enough to create a little community of my own in the film/TV industry. I’ve recently done work for Hallmark, Hulu, and several notable independent teams on exciting upcoming projects.

Commercially I’ve collaborated with clients for Bumble, Febreze, Chevrolet, and others, and I continue to work closely with creative mentor and on-camera coach James at Kot Creative Studios. On stage, I continue to champion the work of passionate artists sharing stories that move us. I devised with fellow UVic graduates on SEETHERED, a powerful play written by Zoe Wessler exploring reproductive rights and bodily autonomy (Victoria Fringe Festival, reVolver Festival). Most recently, I led a cast of 4 in Bronwyn Carradine’s Unexpecting (Zee Zee Theatre) which opens a heart-warming, hilarious, and hopeful window into what it means to be a Queer couple that wants to start a family.

i make my own stuff, too!

Although playing characters allows for a distinct artistic freedom, I also enjoy entertaining in my own voice. I started performing stand up comedy when I was in University — making it to the Top 10 Finalists of national comedy competition CBC’s Next Up  (2019). Later, I began making videos on TikTok, amassing over 100,000 followers and over 2 million likes on my content. While I am not currently active on TikTok, I feel grateful for every person that felt connected to my jokes, stories, and silly anecdotes. Born out of my love for movies and cultural exchange, I also produced a podcast called OK FINE! I’ll Watch It, where I watch popular media I’ve never seen before and talk about it with a fan. Season 1 of OK FINE! I’ll Watch It  is available now:

I am constantly inspired by the works of incredible BIPOC artists who not only play characters, but also create worlds for others to play in. I look forward to building my skills so I may also create more opportunities for Brown women like myself, and indeed all underrepresented people.
